Why do you need more meat, less refined grains and sugars for your health

With vegan diets trending, people are being led to believe that only plant-based food can satisfy their daily nutritional needs, cutting meat completely from their plates. Meat is being blamed for causing various health issues, including high cholesterol levels and heart problems. But if you want to incriminate any food type behind these issues, blame sugar and refined grains. Read on to find out why you need more meat in your diet and less sugar and refined grains for peak health.

For the longest time, we’ve been meat eaters. Only in the last 10,000 years did our diets change with the cultivation of grains and legumes. Simultaneously, we’re facing increased rates of obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart diseases, and inflammation of all kinds. What does this tell us? This is basically an implication of the effects on humans once we started altering our diets.

So why is meat so important?

1. Protein found in animal meat is “complete “, meaning it has all the essential amino acids needed for our body, that are crucial in preventing muscle loss as we age. If you’re eating beans instead of beef for a protein source, you’d have to eat around 3x the calories to get the same protein amount.

2. Meat helps keep blood sugar levels stable due to its fat and high protein content. Stable blood sugar is critical in preventing type 2 diabetes, as well as other chronic diseases. You’re also less likely to crave sweets when your blood sugar levels are steady.

3. All the B vitamins are found in greater amounts in meat sources than in plant ones, and vitamin B-12 can only be found in animal sources. The B vitamins are critical for health, especially mental health. Deficits in these vitamins can cause impaired senses, aggression, insomnia, fatigue, dementia, and peripheral neuropathy.

4. Red meat provides us with iron (which helps prevent anemia) and zinc (containing optimal immune function), which are more easily absorbed and used. According to the National Institute of Health, the body can only absorb 1.4 to 7% of the iron in plants, whereas it can absorb up to 20% of the iron in red meat.

On the other side of the coin, refined grains differ from whole grains by having their bran and germ (which contain B vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, minerals, and healthy fats) removed. So you’re basically left with the endosperm part of the wheat grain and glucose, which is rich in starchy carbohydrates. Refined grains are not linked to the same benefits as whole grains. In fact, they are often linked to poor health outcomes instead. More and more studies are popping up each day, all blaming sugar (glucose) for heart diseases, type 2 diabetes, and even some cancer.

How can AEGIS benefit you during all this?

It is a wellness drink, consisting of BCAAs and antioxidants like ginseng, ginkgo biloba, and guarana, all guaranteed to have anti-inflammatory effects. In addition to the water-soluble vitamin blend (specifically the B vitamins), there is also Stevia (a natural sweetener) to give you an unforgettable sweet taste (minus diabetes).

Add Aegis next to your protein-filled plate to ensure you’re not missing out on any nutritional supplements and vitamins your body needs.

At the end of the day, the overall quality of your diet has a major effect on your health, not just one food group. But overall, meat can’t be excluded from your plate! Its benefits are way too important to lose. The dangerous diet is one consisting of constant glucose and insulin spikes due to processed sugar.
